MONTGOMERY – Joe
L. Reed, Chairman of the Alabama Democratic Conference (ADC) announced today
that Hillary Clinton, Presidential candidate and former United States Secretary
of State, will address the ADC Semi-Annual Convention in Birmingham on October
17, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel.
The luncheon will be held mid-day. Mrs. Clinton is expected
to address Medicaid, tuition for college students, judicial appointments,
education, minimum wages, fair taxes, voting rights and immigration.
“As Secretary of State, I will continue to position Alabama
and the South as a place where Presidential candidates are willing to make an
effort to visit and meet our outstanding citizens,” said Secretary of State
John Merrill. “When this many Presidential candidates are choosing to visit
Alabama, it is proof the SEC Primary is working. The SEC Primary greatly
increases the importance of southeastern states to candidates of both major
parties, and I am proud to see our state receiving the attention it deserves.
It is so important that Alabamians have the opportunity to interact with all
candidates in order to learn who best reflects their views.”
Alabama recently saw visits from former Florida Governor Jeb
Bush, Dr. Ben Carson, Senator Ted Cruz, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee,
Ohio Governor John Kasich, Senator Rand Paul, Senator Bernie Sanders, Donald
Trump and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.
Those interested in attending, including media, should RSVP
to Joe Reed at 334-263-4040 or joelreed1938@gmail.com.
For more information on meeting the candidates, please
contact the Office of the Secretary of State at 334-242-7200.
This communication is not an endorsement of any particular
candidate or political party, but an effort to encourage voter participation
and registration, as well as participation in the SEC Primary, which will be held
on March 1, 2016.
