MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama’s
Secretary of State John H. Merrill is one of only two Secretaries of State from
across the country attending the United States Election Assistance Commission
(EAC) meeting on Tuesday, April 28th and Wednesday, April 29th
in Williamsburg, VA. Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp and Secretary
Merrill are the two Secretaries of State that serve as members of the EAC
Standards Board.
“The EAC will bring together election officials and key voter interest
group stakeholders from all over the country to present views on election
administration and formulate recommendations to the EAC during this two day
conference,” states Secretary of State Merrill.
Following the advisory board public meetings, EAC will hold a public
meeting to receive responses from both the EAC Standards Board, state and local
election officials who represent each of the 55 states and territories, as well
as the EAC Advisors, who represent key voter interest groups and stakeholders.
The meeting will be live via webcast on Wednesday, April 29th from
2:00 – 5:00 PM (EST), and available later for playback at www.yorkmedia.com/eac/webcasts.htm.
The EAC
is an independent bipartisan commission created by the Help America Vote Act
(HAVA) of 2002.
