MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama’s
Secretary of State John H. Merrill has been invited and will accept an
invitation to travel to Taiwan April 18-25, 2015 with six Secretaries of State
from around the United States to enhance cultural and economic relations
between their states and Taiwan. There is no cost to the State of Alabama for
Secretary Merrill to participate in this trip.
The delegation of six Secretaries of State participating is led by North
Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, President of the National
Association of Secretaries of State; Secretary Mark Martin of Arkansas;
Secretary Paul Pate of Iowa; Secretary Mark Hammond of South Carolina;
Secretary Ed Murray of Wyoming; and Secretary Merrill.
“I am excited about this opportunity to meet with government officials at
executive ministries and agencies such as the Central Election Commission, the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs,” stated
Secretary Merrill. “Past delegation itineraries have included visits to
businesses, educational institutions, science and industrial parks, and trade
associations, and I look forward to participating in this geopolitical and
socio-economic opportunity.”
