MONTGOMERY, Ala. – In an effort to efficiently utilize taxpayers’
monies Alabama’s Secretary of State, John H. Merrill, will relocate the
Office’s Business Services Division, which includes the Uniform Commercial Code
Division, Authentications, Lands and Trademarks Division, Information Systems
Division and the Government Support Division to the Alabama State House.
The move, made in
full cooperation with House and Senate leadership and the Legislative Building
Authority, provides comparable work space for his staff to offer services to
the public, while saving Alabama’s taxpayers nearly $270,000 over the next four
years and more than $600,000 over the terms of the original agreement. By month’s end, these Divisions will be
located in the Alabama State House on Union Street directly across from the
Capitol. “Every day Alabama’s citizens
have to look for ways to make ends meet, it is important that government follow
their example,” said Secretary Merrill.
“This is a simple step to save taxpayer dollars without any negative
impact to the citizens of Alabama.”
The new location for
the above Divisions is 11 South Union Street, Montgomery, Alabama 36103.
The Executive offices; the Election Division and Legal Division will continue
to be located at 600 Dexter Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama 36103.
