MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama’s
Secretary of State John H. Merrill will dispatch an Election Quick Response
Team to monitor the Special School Tax Referendum Election in Baldwin County on
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. The Team will work in conjunction with Judge Tim
Russell and be based in the Baldwin County Probate office at 220 Courthouse
Square, Bay Minette, Alabama. The Secretary of State’s Office is committed to
maintaining the voter’s trust in the election process and to making the office
as accessible to the voters of Alabama as possible. The office has received and
responded to numerous questions or concerns regarding the Tax Referendum
Election. Because of this, the Election Quick Response Team will be in Baldwin
County to quickly respond and investigate concerns until the conclusion of the
election.

Baldwin County,” stated
Secretary Merrill. “If there are any suspected irregularities with the Fair
Campaign Practices Act or election and referendum issues, notify the Secretary

The Alabama Election Fairness Project was announced on March 16, 2015
and will ensure that every voting and election-based issue is handled fairly
and equitably for all Alabama citizens. The Project is an agreement between
that Secretary of State, Attorney General, and the Alabama Law Enforcement
Agency to provide a process to investigate and prosecute illegal election
activity.
Any inquiries or allegations about election or Fair Campaign Practice
irregularities for the June 2014 Primary, July 2014 Runoff, November 2014
General Election, or any recent local or referendum election will be
investigated and reviewed by the Secretary of State’s office. The Alabama Election Fairness Project
commences with the office of the Secretary of State, and dependent on the severity
of the issue, the Attorney General may seek prosecution.
