Agents Seize, Destroy Marijuana Plants in Bullock County
Agents of the
Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control Board late last week discovered numerous
marijuana plants growing in a rural portion of east Bullock County. The agents
were checking an area where cannabis plants had been grown previously.
The search took
place last Thursday, July 17, in a wooded area along Bullock County Road 18. The
rustic county road connects Bullock County Roads 61 and 35, and is located
about 10 miles southeast of Union Springs. Agents found ten marijuana plants growing
on the edge of the woods, next to a field that had been cleared recently. Agents
had reason to believe that dope farmers would return to the area because the
field had been used to grow marijuana in the past. The plants had an estimated
street value of $2,000 each.
The agents are part of the ABC Board’s Moonshine Task
Force that investigates tips, develops leads, and are skilled in tracking and
following trails that are often associated with this type of illegal operation. Agents are responsible for enforcing laws
dealing with alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs.
Anyone with any information about this case or
any other illegal activity is encouraged to call the ABC Board Hotline
at 1-800-327-7341. Cash awards are available for information that leads to
an arrest and conviction.
