Talladega
County Man Arrested for Marijuana Possession
Coosa County
Sheriff Terry Wilson recently announced the arrest of a Talladega County man
jailed on possession of marijuana. Nathan Allen Smith, who lives in Sylacauga,
but owns property in Coosa County, was arrested and charged on June 7, 2014,
after more than 100 marijuana plants were found on Smith’s land near Rockford.
County Sheriff’s Deputies,
answering a domestic call, chased an unidentified person into a nearby field. Upon
entering the field, deputies found 107 marijuana plants growing in various size
pots. Alabama ABC Agents assigned to the Moonshine Task Force were called and
asked to assist with the case.
After the property owner was
identified as Nathan Allen Smith, Coosa County Sheriff’s deputies obtained a
warrant for his arrest. Lieutenant Scott Hammond of the Coosa County Sheriff’s
Office located Smith traveling to Sylacauga the following day and took him into
custody. Smith was charged with Possession of Marijuana 1st ,
processed, and placed in the Coosa County jail to await trial.
