State of Alabama
Press Release: Forestry Commission, Alabama

2014 Good Roots Partner announcement:

The Alabama Power Foundation is pleased to announce the Good Roots grant program coordinated with the Alabama Forestry Commission and the Alabama Urban Forestry Association. Through Good Roots, the Foundation will supply up to $1,000 per grant to purchase trees for planting in cities, towns, communities and nonprofit organizations across central and south Alabama.

Good Roots is designed to help keep our communities beautiful and vibrant. The trees must be used in public areas – to enhance a park, add a canopy over the street or help shade a hot parking lot. They can be used around schoolyards, churches and libraries; but can’t be used by an individual or at a residence.

The application is available on the website until April 4, 2014.  Recipients will be notified no later than May 2, 2014. Schools, churches, municipalities and 501(c)3 organizations are eligible to apply.
