MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Secretary of State Jim Bennett
announced today that Governor Bentley has re-scheduled the special general
election for HD104 in Mobile, and the special primary run-off elections for HD31
covering Elmore and Coosa counties and HD53 in Birmingham due to the inclement
weather that is currently forecasted.
These special elections were to be held Tuesday, January 28th. The elections will now be held on February 4,
2014.
“Re-scheduling an election is not an ideal
situation. However, the Governor has
declared a state of emergency due to the weather conditions and we want the
citizens in the affected counties to be safe when they go to the polls,” said
Bennett.
For further information, voters can call the Secretary of
State’s office at 1-800-274-VOTE or the office of their local Probate Judge.
