BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Home Depot is hiring 150 people to staff its McCalla distribution center, and has 450 openings in total at its Birmingham-area facilities, the company said today.
The 150 distribution center jobs are permanent, while 300 jobs in area stores are seasonal. About half of those hired for seasonal positions end up getting permanent jobs with the company, said spokeswoman Katherine Ellison.
The company will hold a series of invitation-only hiring events to fill the distribution center jobs. Previous experience is not required for the distribution center jobs, and seasonal store jobs will be assigned based on experience.
Atlanta-based Home Depot built the McCalla center for $33 million in 2009, and last year spent about $16 million on improvements.
To apply to attend the invitation-only hiring events, click on the "select job type" drop-down menu near the top of Home Depot's careers page, then select the desired position and state, then click "go."
