MONTGOMERY – Alabama companies that have successfully undertaken exporting initiatives are invited to enter the 2013 Governor's Trade Excellence Awards competition.

“Last year, Alabama's overall exports reached a record high of $17.9 billion, and that number is expected to rise even higher in 2012,” said Governor Robert Bentley. “Trade is a vital part of our economy and the Alabama companies who have succeeded in today’s growing world market are to be honored. These awards give us a chance to recognize their achievements and contributions to the state’s economy.”

"This award highlights the importance of building Alabama’s economy and creating jobs through increasing our exports," said Secretary of Commerce Greg Canfield.  "This prestigious award recognizes Alabama’s service and manufacturing firms and institutions that have been successful in facing international market challenges through innovation and leadership."
