HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Intuitive Research and Technology Corp. took second place on Fortune Magazine's list of "Best Small Companies To Work For." Intuitive Research and Technology Corp. was named to Fortune Magazine's list of the country's top 25 small companies to work for.
The Huntsville company -- beat only by Ruby Receptionists in Portland, Ore. -- is the only company in Alabama named to the list of 25.
"The only company from Alabama to make the list is heavy on perks," according to a description of why Intuitive Research was chosen. "A $5,000 health credit is given annually to employees who might need additional health coverage for special needs so they can "buy up" into a more comprehensive health care plan. For employees who want to go back to school for an advanced degree related to their jobs, the company pays for tuition as well as books. Management regularly interacts with the rest of the team by visiting employees stationed at client sites and holding town-hall style meetings for the entire company."
The company was founded in 1999 by A.R. "Rey" Almodovar and Harold Ray Brewer to build a "performance driven engineering services and support organization." It is based in Cummings Research Park.
