Press Release: Alabama Department of Commerce

E & I Announces Expansion

Tallassee, AL – E & I, Inc. announced at a press conference and groundbreaking today that they will be adding 20 new jobs and investing approximately $2,000,000 in an expansion of their existing facility in Tallassee Industrial Park.

E & I supplies automotive sealant and adhesives for vehicles at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama in Montgomery and Kia Motor Manufacturing Georgia and 8 other Tier suppliers.

This addition will be E & I Inc.’s 2nd expansion since originally locating in Tallassee in 2004. During those eight years, E & I, Inc. has invested approximately $15 million in the community.

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley thanked E & I for the company’s confidence in the state’s business climate and said he appreciates the jobs they provide for residents of the Elmore County area. “Just last week, Area Development magazine announced that Alabama has one of the best business climates in the nation. E & I discovered this first-hand when it opened in Tallassee and the company continues to expand in the community.

Greg Canfield, secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce, said the department is glad it could assist the company through the involvement in the project. “The decision today was the result of a great company matching its resources with a great local work force. We will continue to work with E & I and hope that they announce many more expansions in Alabama.”

In 2004, when the company opened in Tallassee, Seoil America was a subsidiary of Seoil Company, LTD, Ansan, Korea. In 2008, Jerry Chang purchased the company and later in 2009, changed the name to E & I Inc. (Engineering & Industry, Incorporated)

Entities that assisted with this project include the City of Tallassee, Industrial Development Board of the City of Tallassee, Elmore County Economic Development Authority, Alabama Department of Commerce, Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, Elmore County Commission, Tallassee Chamber of Commerce, and Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission.
