HUNTSVILLE -- The First Annual Global Supply Chain and Logistics Conference, “Cheaper – Faster – Better’, will feature expert speakers and panelists to help Alabama professionals anticipate and navigate the rapidly changing global landscape of business.
Presented by the Alabama Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Commerce Export Assistance Center, Huntsville International Airport International Intermodal Center and the North Alabama International Trade Association, the Global Supply Chain Conference will be held August 21, 2012, at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel at the Port of Huntsville from 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We are proud to help in presenting this first annual conference on supply chain management. Helping our companies achieve supply chain profitability is a top priority and critical to their success, “said Hilda Lockhart, director of International Trade for the Alabama Department of Commerce. “The speakers are professionals in this field and will provide insight on how companies can successfully implement a change in their own supply chains to make it cheaper, faster and better.”
Presentations and discussion will cover best practices through a series of case studies from companies including ADTRAN, Mercedes, NAVISTAR and Jack Daniels. These are just a few companies with facilities in Alabama that are successfully moving products and components through the global supply chain. The U.S. Army Materiel Command Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA) and the University of Alabama will also provide input on how to manage the supply chain.
To reserve a seat, contact Dara Steele, Alabama Department of Commerce, by e-mail at Dara.Steele@commerce.alabama.gov or call 334.353.1762. While there is no fee to attend, registration is required.
The conference is made possible in part by the support of the Appalachian Regional Commission and partners of the Export Alabama Alliance.
