BIRMINGHAM – The U.S. Small Business Administration Alabama District Office announced the Alabama Small Businesses of the Year as part of National Small Business Week. The winners of the awards and the categories they represent are:
Alabama Small Business Person of the Year

Country Gables Assisted Living Facility, Inc.
Grand Bay, AL
Alabama Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year
Sigmatech, Inc.
Dr. Gurmeju S. Sandhu, Founder
Huntsville, AL
Alabama Small Business Exporter of the Year
MCM Vehicles, Inc.
Michael C. McSweeney, Chief Financial Officer
Trussville, AL
The awards are presented annually to small businesses in a variety of areas that represent a commitment to excellence and success as entrepreneurs. Nominations are submitted in various categories to the District Office and winners are also submitted for a national competition as well. National winners are recognized during festivities in Washington, D.C. as part of National Small Business Week.
SBA District Director, Tom Todt congratulated the state winners and commended them for representing Alabama’s small business community which is a vital part of the state’s economy. “We salute their accomplishments, look forward to their continued success and hope that this recognition of their commitment to excellence will serve to motivate others to follow in their footsteps,” said Todt.
