WASHINGTON – Alabama Secretary of State Beth Chapman was called to testify before the Committee on House Administration as an expert witness on military and overseas voting efforts. Secretary Chapman not only represented the state of Alabama, but the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS).
“It is a great honor to represent NASS, but an even greater honor to represent Alabama and the men and women of the United States Military who sacrifice their lives for us and our country every single day. It is our moral obligation to do everything we can to ensure them their right to vote.”
Chapman chairs Alabama’s Military and Overseas Voting Task Force, has written and strongly supported legislation in this endeavor. In doing so, Alabama became one of only three states in the country to utilize the Overseas Vote Foundation as an additional means for members of our military to register to vote. Under Secretary Chapman’s leadership, Alabama has become a strong leader and a flagship state with regard to Military and Overseas Voting.
