BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Mando America Corp., whose North American headquarters are in Opelika, announced it is investing $24.3 million in an expansion project there that's expected to create 30 jobs.
Opelika Mayor Gary Fuller announced the project at the city council meeting, according to a statement from Opelika Economic Development. Mando will expand by adding another production line at its facility in the Northeast Opelika Industrial Park.
"We are extremely honored that Mando continues to invest in Opelika and grow their business here," Fuller said. "Mando is one of Opelika's largest employers and a valued corporate citizen in our community and we appreciate our partnership with them."
Gov. Robert Bentley in a statement regarding the expansion of the company -- which manufacturers brake corner modules, brake calipers, suspension modules and steering systems -- also praised the project.
"Mando is now one of Opelika's largest manufacturing employers with more than 600 workers and is an asset to the area's economy," he said in the statement. "We will be here to assist through the Alabama Department of Commerce as they continue to grow and employ Alabama citizens."
