MONTGOMERY, Ala.-- Secretary of State Beth Chapman has announced that a new free resource is now available on the subject of business identity theft prevention. The new website is designed to educate business owners so they can protect their business from identity theft. The website, which can be found at www.BusinessIDTheft.org, is the first and only resource dedicated to the topic. It is a collaborative effort between the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) and the Identity Theft Protection Association (ITPA).
"Secretaries of state from across the nation are working together to protect commercial documents and educate business owners on the threats they face regarding business identity theft," said Chapman. "Businesses across Alabama should be aware of the potential threat of business identity theft, how to prevent it, and what to do if their business falls victim. This is a reliable resource to help them."
Chapman currently serves as president of NASS.
