MONTGOMERY—The Alabama Department of Homeland Security in conjunction with The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and The City of Montgomery Police Department, culminated Executive/Force Protective Training Friday, January 20, 2012 at the City of Montgomery Police Academy.
This one week training provides state and local law enforcement the necessary skills to conduct protective detail to any dignitaries and provide force protection for necessary assets during a natural or man made disaster (such as medical supplies, fuel supplies, water, storage compounds).
Students have received training in vehicle operations, protective formations, and site planning/advance preparation.
Director Spencer Collier recognized the need to enhance the preparation of our first responders after such events as the April 27th, 2011, tornado outbreak and the 2010 Gulf oil spill.
This specialized training is pivotal to the law enforcement community based on the dynamics of the potential threat environment events and allows local law enforcement to assist in the protection of senior State and Federal government officials.
Director Collier emphasized and renewed the Alabama Department of Homeland Security’s commitment to provide Alabama’s responders with the critical training necessary to protect accomplish any homeland security mission.
