Disaster Assistance Center Opens in Perry County

MARION, Ala. (AP) - Federal and state officials have opened a disaster assistance center in Perry County to assist residents and business owners who were affected by storms and tornadoes that hit Alabama Jan. 22-23.

The center is located at the Perry County Chamber of Commerce building at 1200 Washington St. in Marion and is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Those needing assistance are urged to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency before going to the disaster assistance center.

Federal disaster assistance for individuals and families can include grants for rental assistance and home repairs. Low interest loans from the Small Business Administration are also available.

Similar centers previously opened in Jefferson and Chilton Counties.
