MOBILE -- Customer call center Sitel said Wednesday that it will hire 120 temporary workers at its Covington County location, with plans to convert 75 of those to permanent jobs early next year. Sitel, based in Nashville, Tenn., is controlled by Canada's Onex Corp. and has 52,000 employees worldwide. Its call centers tend to staff up and then lay workers off as its business grows and shrinks. The company said new workers will provide customer support for a national retail chain.
Sitel now has 459 workers at its Covington County facilty between Andalusia and Opp, and said the new hires mean it will double its staff from the level it had at the beginning of the year. Candidates may apply in person from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at 18801 U.S. 84, or online at www.sitel.com. For questions, call 334-428-2900.
