McMillan & Roby to Host Farm Bill Listening Forum
Montgomery, AL -- Commissioner of Agriculture & Industries John McMillan and U.S. Rep. Martha Roby will host a joint listening forum for farmers in Alabama’s Second Congressional District next Thursday. With the 2012 Farm Bill on the horizon, McMillan and Roby want to provide an opportunity for input by those who will be impacted by the bill.
The forum agenda will include farmers from Alabama’s Second Congressional District speaking about relevant agriculture issues. “I want to encourage all farmers in the area to attend this forum and actively participate in the dialog so that their concerns about agriculture can be addressed in the upcoming Farm Bill,” said McMillan. There will be time set aside for the audience to voice their concerns.
Rep. Roby serves on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee which is responsible for drafting the Farm Bill. In an effort to collect comprehensive information from her constituents, Rep. Roby plans to hold several hearings in the coming months. Next week’s forum will be the first in a series of opportunities for citizens of the Second Congressional District to inform Rep. Roby about the agricultural programs that are important to them.
The Farm Bill Listening Forum will be held in the Pike County Cattlemen’s Complex on U.S. Hwy 231, south of Troy on Thursday, June 30, 2011, from 3–5 p.m.
