MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Secretary of State Beth Chapman has ordered departments of her office to expedite all paperwork and documents related to the storm recovery and rebuilding efforts of Alabama businesses. The Business Services division of Chapman’s office has received numerous calls regarding corporate documents kept by the Secretary of State and efforts to reserve names for businesses helping with the ongoing efforts.
"At this time, we must do everything we can to make sure our fellow Alabamians are able to get back on their feet," said Chapman. "These folks are our friends, family, and neighbors; we need to do everything possible to help them get their lives back to normal as quickly as they can."
Currently, many services of the Business Services division are available online, including certificates of existence, a major document being sought at this time by businesses damaged or destroyed during the recent tornados and also those businesses that need to be licensed in order to work to rebuild the damaged areas of the state.
If businesses involved in the tornado recovery and rebuilding effort need more information regarding the services offered by Business Services of the Secretary of State’s office, visit www.sos.alabama.gov or email rebecca.morris@sos.alabama.gov.
