MONTGOMERY -- Montgomery and surrounding River Region communities are earning praise from Southern Business and Development magazine for their strategy lure Hyundai Heavy Industries to Montgomery. The city of Montgomery, Montgomery, County, Prattville, Greenville and Elmore County created an incentives package that brought the company's $90 million capital investment to the area, a move that created 1,000 jobs.
The investment marked the largest economic development project in Alabama in 2010 in both dollars and jobs, according to the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. The landing of HHI was listed among the magazine's "10 Notable Collective Economic Development Efforts in the South" Winter 2011 issue.
Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange applauded local decision makers and their speed of only three hours to create an incentives package to guarantee HHI’s $90 million capital investment and the creation of 1,000 jobs.
The “team work” approach of incentives by regional business leaders benefits all communities with the creation of new and higher paying jobs and the revenune assists the area local economies
