The Advisory Committee on Child Support Guidelines and Enforcement, a committee formed by the Alabama Supreme Court to advise the Court on matters relating to the Child Support Guidelines, is currently reviewing the Guidelines to determine if it wishes to make any recommendations for changes.
The Advisory Committee wishes to receive comments and suggestions from interested citizens or persons representing organizations concerning the Child Support Guidelines. These guidelines are generally used when determining the amount of child support to be paid.
Public Hearing Schedule
Wednesday, March 10, 2004: 10:00 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, March 11, 2004: 9:00 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m.
Meetings will be held on the mezzanine level of the Alabama Judicial Building, 300 Dexter Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama.
Persons wishing to appear before the Advisory Committee to make comments or suggestions in person will be required to limit their comments to ten minutes and must submit a written copy of their comments. The Advisory Committee will make every reasonable effort to schedule the verbal testimony for all interested persons.
Testimony must pertain strictly to the Guidelines and must not include other child support issues or comments regarding personal cases.
Individuals wishing to speak must submit a written request that is postmarked no later than Friday, March 5, 2004, to: Child Support Guidelines Public Hearing, c/o Alex Jackson, Esq., Supreme Court Clerkâs Office, 300 Dexter Avenue, Montgomery, AL 36104-3741. The written request may be faxed no later than Monday, March 8, 2004, to the following number: (334) 242-0588.
The written request must include the following information:
Name of the party wishing to appear and speak before the Advisory Committee.
Mailing address of the speaker;
Telephone number where the speaker may be reached during normal business hours
Name of any organization the speaker represents.
No telephone requests will be accepted.
Persons wishing to speak before the Advisory Committee and who plan to bring other persons to the public hearing must provide the names and addresses of these persons in the written request to Mr. Jackson. All persons wishing to speak before the Committee must enter the Judicial Building in the front portal to go through the Security Station.
No weapons, knives, cell phones, or cameras will be allowed anywhere in the Judicial Building during the public hearing.
