New Escambia County Director Appointed

The Escambia County Board of Human Resources has appointed Laura Lynn Barnes as the new Escambia County DHR Director. Ms. Barnes began her career with the Department of Human Resources as a Social Worker in Escambia County in September 1992.

She worked for seven years in the Family Services Unit assessing CA/N referrals and providing on-going services to at risk-families. In 1999, she began training and licensing of foster and adoptive parents. In 2000, Ms. Barnes was promoted to Service Supervisor.

In 2002, Ms. Barnes was promoted to Senior Social Work Supervisor and assumed responsibility for the Agency’s Quality Assurance and Resource functions. In 2003, she returned to Foster Care, Adoptions, and Licensure Programs as a Supervisor.

In November 2004, Ms. Barnes transferred to the Office of Quality Assurance in the State Office’s Family Services Division. Ms. Barnes received her MSW Degree from the University of Alabama in May 2002.
