The Department of Human Resources state office in Montgomery recently made changes to the way it provides support to its staff and the families they serve. In doing so, three major areas of responsibility were created. They are:
Child Safety and Well Being
Permanency
Division Support / Federal Claiming.
"We believe these changes will help us do an even better job serving the people of Alabama by working more efficiently and effectively" said Commissioner Page Walley. "We anticipate continued improvements in program outcomes because staff will have clearly defined goals."
The new areas will be:
Child Safety and Well Being - Reba Cantrell will be in charge.
Child Protective Services (Administrative Record Review and Family Preservation and Support), Policy and Training offices.
Permanency - Trish Muscolino will be in charge.
Foster Care, Adoption, Quality Assurance, and the Child Welfare Consultant Office.
Division Support/Federal Claiming - Betty Ziri will be in charge.
Child Welfare Federal Claiming (IV-E eligibility unit, Medicaid Rehab, Targeted Case Management) and the Special Projects Office; Federal Planning in coordination with the Policy, Planning, and Research Office.
An additional change has Freida Baker assuming responsibility for the R. C. Office (flex funds), Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children (ICPC), the Child Welfare Strategic Plan. She will also serve as a liaison for the proposed Governor’s Child Welfare Commission.
