The North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC) has chosen the Alabama Foster and Adoptive Parent Association (AFAPA) as their Parent Support Group of the Year 2007. The association will be recognized this July at the NACAC conference in Tampa, Florida.
In a letter written to AFAPA President Buddy Hooper, Diane Martin of the NACAC wrote, “A special thank you for all of the things that your group does for and with foster, adoptive and kinship parents. Know that we here at NACAC appreciate you!”
This marks the second time in three years that AFAPA has been recognized nationally. In 2005, AFAPA was named Association of the Year by the National Foster Parent Association.
"I extend my congratulations to our AFAPA for being recognized once again as a leader in the advocacy and caring for foster children." Said DHR Commissioner Page Walley, "I’d like to thank them for their valuable contribution toward the success of our foster care system."
