Sixteen DHR County Directors were among 45 graduates of the Civilian Leadership and Management Seminar at Gunter Air Force Base in Montgomery. The intensive week-long training was given in early July by the Air Force as a community service to public sector managers from federal, state, city, and county governments.
Instructors from the Gunter Noncommissioned Officer Academy led the discussions on the principles of leadership, sustaining agency performance, managing change, dealing with conflict, and much more. The graduates had high praise for the event which deepened their understanding of leadership and increased their collaboration with a broader variety of public servants.
The directors who attended from DHR were among our newest appointees, generally with less than four years service as a director:
Attending were: Cecelia Ball, Elmore; Lynn Barnes, Escambia; Peggy Day, Cullman, Brandon Hardin, Coffee; Sue Hays, Geneva; Voncile Jackson, Choctaw; Sharon Jay, Hale; Judy Jochen, Barbour; Onya Johnson, Autauga; Cherry Jones, Bullock, Kim Mashego, Jefferson; Rosa Mickles, Conecuh; Tyron Newton, Lawrence; Marcia Parker, Blount; Frieda Stevens, Butler; Lesa Syler, Crenshaw.
