National Adoption Month is a time to recognize the adoptive and foster families who have shared their homes and hearts with children in need. As we honor these individuals we encourage more Alabamians to consider adopting young people of all ages.
Families who adopt show the generous spirit of our state and Nation. Every child desires a permanent home, and when parents adopt a child to love as their own, lives are forever changed. For parents, the decision to adopt a child is among life's greatest and happiest turning points. In Alabama, 328 children were adopted from foster care in fiscal year 2007.
This year Alabama DHR will partner with Heart Gallery Alabama, Alabama Pre & Post Adoption Connections & the Alabama Foster & Adoptive Parent Association to celebrate National Adoption Month on Thursday November 15, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. The celebration will be held in the Theater of the Hoover Public Library in Hoover, Alabama.
This event will provide for a time of collective celebration of the children adopted this year and the families who adopted them. It will also recognize the volunteers and agencies who work together to make the dream of a forever family a reality for Alabama’s Waiting Children.
