Montgomery,
Ala. – ‘Certificates of Existence’ are now available online for businesses.
Secretary of State Beth Chapman continues to transform services for businesses
in the Alabama Secretary of State’s office with technological innovation.
Adding to the reformation started in 2007 with the electronic online UCC Filing
System, Secretary Chapman has now responded to one
of the most frequent customer service requests of the past decade by making
these certificates available on the website.
‘Certificates of Existence’ are the first of
the Business Entity functions to be activated online. Business entities that
require proof of their existence may now purchase and print multiple copies in
one secure credit card transaction, eliminating mailing or courier fees and
wait time. Each Certificate of Existence will contain the official signature,
gold edging, and gold seal, if printed in color. The signature and seal make
the documents an original even if it is printed in black and white.
“Within the next few months we will add
business entity document copies and certified copies online,” emphasized
Secretary Chapman, “and we will continue to put procedures online to allow the
staff more time to assist customers with more complex transactions, while
allowing our customers a choice in how they want to process their business
documents.”
