Public Meeting Regarding the Expansion of the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge

The Alabama Forestry Commission wants Alabama citizens to be aware of a proposed U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) expansion plan for the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge. Two opportunities are available in which to voice or submit opinions on the proposal, as follows:


The proposed plan as well as a comment form can be downloaded from the USFWS website at The public comment period for the plan has been extended and will now end September 7, 2010.


Additionally, the USFWS Division of Planning and Land Acquisition has announced that it will hold a public forum in regard to the proposed expansion of Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge  September 2, 2010, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., in Bibb County at the Brent Elementary School gymnasium, 160 4th Street, Brent, Alabama. The purpose of the meeting, organized primarily around a town hall format, is to answer questions from the public and accept comments concerning the refuge proposal.
