Statement by Lt. Governor Jim Folsom, Jr.
We are
facing one of the most difficult economic climates in our history. Accordingly, I wanted to restate my position
on an issue that continues to monopolize Alabama’s time, attention, and valuable
state resources.
There are
good people on both sides of the gaming debate and we have systems and processes
in place to deal with conflicts and disagreements that arise. We must let the system work because there is too
much at stake for the thousands of employees and their families affected by
recent events.
As I have
repeatedly stated, the people of Alabama deserve a firm and final legislative
definition of what Bingo is and what Bingo isn’t.
I fully
understand that passions are running very high regarding the gaming issue in Alabama but we must never allow unnecessary
political posturing to trump the concerns of the working families of this
state.
