Montgomery, Ala. - Secretary of State Beth Chapman continues the innovative use of technology to make the processes of the Alabama Secretary of State’s Office more efficient and effective for Alabama businesses. Adding to the launch of the Electronic UCC Filing System that her office brought online in 2008, Secretary Chapman is now developing an interactive online filing ability for Limited Liability Partnerships’ (LLP) Annual Notices.
The LLP Annual Notice is a standard form which the Secretary of State’s office currently mails every year to more than 1,696 LLP companies. Following this year, it will be continuously available in the current year format on the Secretary of State’s website, saving the state printing, postage, and mailing expenses. Customers have expressed frustration that the old forms, which were not ‘fillable PDFs’ that could be filled in on the computer and printed off, had to be typed on typewriters, which many people no longer use, or handwritten legibly.
The LLP Annual Notice will be the first form to be made interactive followed by all of the other corporate forms as quickly as the upgrades can be accomplished.
"This is the next step to merging the Corporations and UCC Divisions into the Business Services Division of our office," emphasized Secretary Chapman, "we will continue to put the simplest procedures online to allow the staff more time to assist customers with more complex transactions and be more responsive to our customers’ requests for technological improvements."
The Business Services Division of the Secretary of State’s office has recently relocated and has a new address:
100 N. Union St. Ste. 770
Montgomery, AL 36130
