MONTGOMERY – Alabama Secretary of State Beth Chapman received a national Award of Commendation from the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States at the state VFW conference held this weekend. The Award of Commendation Medal was presented to Secretary Chapman in recognition of her many efforts to assist the military and their families in championing their causes and leading the effort to bring electronic internet voting to the troops as they serve abroad.
Chapman has received numerous awards by multiple entities of the United States Military including the Alabama National Guard. Chapman has also been awarded the George Washington Medal of Honor by the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge for her book, The Power of Patriotism, The Speech Heard Around the World.
Chapman said, “I am no military hero, but it is an honor to support and advocate for those who are. Members of our military past and present are the ones who deserve recognition. It is on behalf of them and their families’ many sacrifices for our country that I accept this award.”
