MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Today, Gineen Beach, Chairman of the Election Assistance Commission, visited Secretary of State Chapman at the State Capitol in Montgomery. As Alabama’s chief elections official, Chapman discussed issues facing Alabama election officials and voters, including those voters serving abroad in the military.
Beach and Chapman also met with election officials in Shelby County to discuss matters regarding local elections.
The Election Assistance Commission is a federal agency formed by Congress in 2002. It is an independent, bipartisan commission that serves as a resource for managing federal elections and is charged with developing elections standards for state and local governments. It is also the federal agency in charge of certifying voting machines and systems.
