MONTGOMERY, AL – Gov. and Mrs. Bob Riley will open the Governor’s Mansion for candlelight tours from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. beginning Monday. The tours will occur every Monday night in December leading up to Christmas.
“The Governor’s Mansion belongs to the people of Alabama and we want to share it with them during this wonderful holiday season,” said Mrs. Riley.
Mrs. Riley will be signing copies of her cookbook, When the Dinner Bell Rings at the Governor’s Mansion, on Dec.14 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Governor’s Mansion gift shop. Designer Mandy Bagwell will be signing Christmas ornaments on Dec. 7 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the gift shop and live music will be provided by the Lo-Fi Loungers.
Tickets for the tours are available free of charge at the gift shop beginning at 4:30 p.m. the night of the tour. The dates of the tours are Dec. 7, 14 and 21. The Governor’s Mansion gift shop is located at 30 Finley Avenue across the street from the side entrance of the mansion.
The Governor’s Mansion is a 1907 Colonial Revival house located at 1142 South Perry Street in Montgomery and has served as the official residence for governors of Alabama since 1951.
