Council on the Arts to Receive $974,215 Partnership Award from the National Endowment for the Arts

MONTGOMERY, Ala., (May 21, 2024) — The Alabama State Council on the Arts has been approved for a $974,215 National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Fiscal Year 2024 Partnership Agreement to address priorities identified at the state level. The Council on the Arts regrants 100% of these funds to organizations across Alabama through our grant-making process.

The NEA also awarded an additional $175,000 to five Alabama organizations: Athens State University, the Dance Foundation, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Arts Huntsville, and the University of Alabama. These funds will offer support in areas such as musical theatre, exhibitions, folk traditions, education, and public art installations.

“Funding to our state and regional partners nationwide is crucial to sustaining vibrant local arts ecosystems,” said NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “So many aspects of our communities including cultural vitality, health and wellbeing, infrastructure, and the economy are advanced and improved through investments in art and design, and the National Endowment for the Arts, in cooperation with these agencies, is committed to ensuring people across the country benefit.”

In addition to applying for grants offered by the Council on the Arts, arts organizations and artists throughout Alabama are encouraged to stay informed about the National Endowment for the Arts grant programs and submit applications directly to the NEA to seek support for future projects and endeavors.
