Sheffield, AL- Cypress Moon Studios (www.cypressmoonproduction.com) is proud to announce that its heartwarming family film When I Find the Ocean will screen in more than 90 Carmike Theaters as an official selection of the DPEC Independent Film Series. The nationwide theatrical release of the film will take place May 11, 2009.
The Independent Film Series selects six films from thousands to screen for one week each over the span of the six week series. The purpose of the series is to expose a national audience to quality independent films. DPEC teamed with Carmike Theaters on this exciting project.
When I Find the Ocean won the 2008 KIDS FIRST! Best Award for Independent Feature Film ages 12-18. It was also awarded Five-out-of-Five Doves by The Dove Foundation, who held it as “a wonderful family film”.

I wrote and directed the film to appeal to a worldwide audience that believes in family values, faith and perseverance. As an official selection of the Independent Film Series, When I Find the Ocean will be screened in 31 states including Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
When I Find the Ocean follows the journey of a little girl (Lily Matland Holly), who sets out to find the ocean, escaping from a dangerous secret and leaving an otherwise loving home. Lily embarks on an adventure with her beloved dog and rabbit to find peace with her father, who died at sea. Set in 1965 Alabama during a time of immense prejudice and civil unrest, Lily confronts a new set of obstacles along the way after she is befriended by a tugboat captain.
When I Find the Ocean stars Lee Majors (The Six Million Dollar Man, The Fall Guy), Diane Ladd (Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore), Graham Greene (Dances With Wolves), Richard Tyson (Kindergarten Cop), George Lindsey (The Andy Griffith Show) Bernie Casey (Another 48 Hours), David “Shark” Fralick (The Young and the Restless) Amy Redford (The Guitar), Natalie Canerday (Slingblade), and introduces Lily Matland Holly.
Cypress Moon Studios has many films slated for production. The next feature film is The Story of Bonnie and Clyde, starring Hilary Duff and Kevin Zegers, which will be shot in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
