Montgomery, Ala. -- The Alabama State Council on the Arts announces a special grant application opening May 1 for the awarding of CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) stimulus funding for arts organizations. The $457,900 in stimulus funding from the National Endowment for the Arts is designated for the arts industry recovery effort in Alabama. The deadline to apply is May 15.
Alabama CARES About the Arts: Emergency Relief Grants are focused on supporting jobs, providing operating support and financial stability for arts organizations currently affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The CARES Stimulus funding will be distributed to eligible arts organizations of all sizes, with grants of $2,500, $5,000, $10,000, and $15,000.

These organizations are also economic drivers, bringing tourism revenue to communities and providing thousands of jobs statewide. These new grants will help small, medium, and large arts organizations throughout Alabama sustain operations and retain jobs through these difficult times.
The Alabama State Council on the Arts is the official state arts agency of Alabama.
The staff of the Council, directed by Dr. Elliot Knight, administers the grants programs, produces arts events, and provides technical assistance in arts planning and implementation. The Council receives funding through an annual appropriation from the Alabama Legislature and funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
