Press Release: Medicaid

Hospice Claims Reprocessed Due to Increased Per Diem Rate for Nursing Facilities related to COVID-19 Health Emergency

PDF Version

TO:  Hospice and Nursing Home Providers

Effective for claims with Medicaid patient dates of service 3/1/2020 through the end of the national emergency, there will be a $20.00 add on to the per diem payment for all Nursing Facilities due to the COVID-19 state of emergency.

Hospice provider claims related to an affected Nursing Facility submitted and paid since 3/1/2020 will be reprocessed and paid in the checkwrite of 5/1/2020.

During the COVID-19 emergency, it is important to file claims as quickly as possible to ensure payment from Medicaid is made to Medicaid providers close to the date of service. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has increased the federal matching percentage for the emergency time frame, but states can only receive the increased match on claims that are paid during the emergency.
