The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs (ADVA)
is teaming up with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) providing an
opportunity for veterans to get answers—and sometimes resolutions—regarding
their benefits and healthcare.
The
Montgomery Veterans Experience Action Center (VEAC) event is scheduled for February
5 from 9 a.m. to 3
p.m., at the Crampton Bowl Multiplex, 220 Hall Street. The VEAC provides a
forum for veterans and family members to engage VA and community service providers personally and receive one-on-one service to
address any and all issues.
ADVA Veterans Service Officers (VSO) and claims
personnel will be on hand to help veterans with existing claims and appeals,
file new claims, and accept all claims-related evidence for processing. Veterans
will also have the opportunity to enroll for VA healthcare and have access to information
regarding benefit-related VA programs and services.
For assistance with VA claims and services, veterans
should bring proper documentation about their case: DD 214, all medical records
about any military and civilian disability, and dependency documents.
In addition to the VA and ADVA departments, the
event will include other community and organizational services, including the
American Red Cross, Still Serving Veterans, the Alabama Department of Labor mobile Joblink Career
Center, and many others.
