MONTGOMERY – The annual report deadline required by the Fair Campaign Practices Act (FCPA) is approaching for candidates, elected officials, and political action committees. The FCPA requires an annual report to be filed by January 31 of each year. Since that deadline date is on a weekend, this year’s deadline is Monday, February 2, 2009.
This report covers all contributions and expenditures for a candidate’s principal campaign committee or a political action committee for the preceding calendar year.
If the committee has not been dissolved, it must file a report. Even if an elected official has closed their campaign committee, they are still required to file.
Reports for state candidates, elected officials and PACs are submitted to the Secretary of State’s office. Reports for county and city candidates, elected officials and PACs go to the appropriate Probate Judge.
