MONTGOMERY – Secretary of State Beth Chapman and her staff launched a “new and improved” website today. This is the first major overhaul of the Secretary of State’s website in almost a decade.
The site, which is used by literally thousands of citizens each week to research elections, campaign finance reports and numerous business filings, is now in a more user-friendly, color coded format. The information has been updated and even features a children’s page to provide educational information regarding Democracy, Alabama History and the importance of their right to vote in the future.
In the past there were several steps to complete in order to retrieve various records. That cumbersome process has now been updated and streamlined. All the databases and records of the office have been compiled in one section titled “Government Records,” for easier accessibility. Instead of having to search through several steps to receive information, the process has been simplified to navigate the same information in one step.
“More and more Alabamians are using the internet and we wanted to make it as convenient for them as possible,” Secretary Chapman said. “This is one of many steps my staff and I have taken to ensure all of the information in our office is available, convenient and transparent to the people we serve.”
