The events of the Senate organizational session are a true tribute to the organizational process. While many Senators had very passionate views on the direction the organization of the body should take, in the end, each Senator weighed his principles and priorities and voted accordingly.
I understand and respect the fact that passions ran high and the debate took place in a highly charged environment. Thirty Five Senators came to Montgomery representing different geographic areas, diverse populations, and philosophies that spanned the entire political spectrum. I firmly believe that in the final analysis, each Senator rose above any personal and partisan argument to act in the best interest of the citizens they were elected to represent.
I look forward to working with this group of outstanding men and women during this term of the Alabama Senate as we do everything within our power to move this great State forward.
