MONTGOMERY – On Monday, the Office of the Secretary of State announced
it has partnered with Alabama Interactive to provide the state of Alabama’s
first online voter information request portal.
Code of Alabama (1975), Section
17-4-38 provides that the Office of the Secretary of State shall provide access
to lists and voter history information contained on the central computer to
anyone making application, and there shall be a uniform charge for the
production of voter lists.
The new
portal will provide access to lists and voter history to include, but not be
limited to: County School Districts, County Commission Districts,
State House Districts, State Senate Districts, State School Districts, Congressional
Districts and statewide voter lists. Currently, the online portal does not offer city wide or
municipal district voter information. Those requesting municipal voter
information may submit the paper request form to the Secretary of State’s
Office, which can be found here: www.sos.alabama.gov.
To visit the portal or to request
voter information please access the following link: www.alabamainteractive.org.
“We are very excited to be able to
offer this service to the citizens of Alabama!” said Secretary Merrill. “This
new feature continues my efforts to increase transparency and will allow any
interested citizen, candidate or elected official to be able to custom prepare
and purchase the voter list they desire without having to contact another
person to do it. The system will be secure, cost efficient and provide easy
access to the available information.”
The cost for purchasing voter list
information online will be one cent per voter record and will also include a
nominal processing fee.
The online voter information portal
does not offer official election results, poll lists, or any other information
involved in official election preparation or post-election procedures.
Special provisions are in place to
protect victims, and parents of victims of domestic violence, under Code of
Alabama, 1975, Section 17-4-33(b). If you have any questions about these
criteria or if you would like to obtain more information on these processes,
please contact Joel Laird in the Secretary of State’s Office at (334) 242-0447.
