Governor Riley Directs Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Fort Hood Victims
Governor's Office:
11/6/2009 - MONTGOMERY - Governor Bob Riley directed flags to be flown at half-staff starting today until sunset on Tuesday, Nov. 10 on state government buildings as a tribute to those who lost their lives at Fort Hood, Texas on Thursday. The Governor is also encouraging local governments and schools to fly their flags at half-staff on their buildings.

Alabama Renewable Energy Conference to Explore Profit Potential

11/6/2009 - As the demand for renewable energy increases, Alabama farmers and entrepreneurs are learning how they can benefit. Representatives from agriculture, forestry and energy-related businesses will convene in Auburn Nov. 17-18 to discuss opportunities in the expanding bioenergy industry. The 6th Annual Alabama Renewable Energy Conference will be held at the Auburn University Hotel and Dixon Conference Center.

Alabama Power getting stimulus money for updates

11/6/2009 - The U.S. Department of Energy is allocating up to $6 million of federal stimulus money to help Alabama Power Co. upgrade electrical generating units at three dams on the Coosa River.
