11/6/2026 - On Saturday, November 14, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, the Museum of Alabama at the Department of Archives & History will host a grand opening of its new First Peoples of Alabama gallery and an art festival celebrating the vibrant culture of the Native Americans whose homelands are in Alabama. The event brings together Native artists and artisans, many of whose commissioned works appear in the new gallery. Visitors of all ages are invited to tour the new exhibit, meet the artists, watch demonstrations, and learn about Native American history and culture.

Billy Croslow, a retired Army officer with service from the final parts of the Cold War through the Global War on Terror, will present Army Aviation in the Heart of the South.

Medicaid:
11/5/2026 - Effective February 1, 2027, Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners (CRNPs) providing Rural Health Clinic services must bill using their individual National Provider Identifier (NPI) in the rendering provider identification number (ID#) field (Block 24J) of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) 1500 claim form.
CRNPs affiliated with rural health clinics must be enrolled with an NPI, which links them to the clinic. The provider type for the enrollment is 58 – Rural Health Clinic. If the CRNP is not already enrolled with Alabama Medicaid, please apply in the Electronic Provider Enrollment Application Portal.

10/29/2026 - The Alabama Medicaid Agency (Medicaid) and Gainwell Technologies are in the process of implementing the federal CMS-0056-F pharmacy standards changes, which adopt updated National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) and related HIPAA transaction standards. These updates are designed to modernize pharmacy data exchange, improve interoperability and support future pharmacy transaction processing requirements. Pharmacies are encouraged to contact their pharmacy software vendors to ensure pharmacy transaction compliance deadlines are met.
